Hide Synopsis
From her studio, in the company of Prince, the cat who one day decided to move in, Anna Gili retraces an approach to design rooted in anthropology and philosophy rather than industry. It begins with the Sonorous Garment (Abito Sonoro), her 1984 graduation project at ISIA in Florence. It is a wearable structure of starched cloth and brass sheets that the wearer plays like a percussion instrument. In Milan came the performances, including “Persone Dipinte”, staged at the Alchimia gallery in 1986, in which people she met became living sculptures. Her interest in portraiture then turned to the animals she has always lived with. That bond goes back to a childhood spent close to nature, and it inspired the M.U.C.H. – Magic Umbria Country House, which she frescoed with fantastic animals in the place where she was born.
